"Scent has a power of persuasion stronger than words." If Patrick Süskind is right - and this quote comes from his famous novel "Perfume" - then choosing a perfume to buy for oneself or as a gift is no longer so simple or trivial. Gabriele D'Annunzio knew this well; he loved to spread perfume everywhere - on fabrics, on curtains, in the air, on the bodies of his women - to the point of wanting to create his own fragrance (which he called Aqua Nuntia), writing the recipe himself (found in the margin of a 16th-century gallant volume and sealed with the phrase: "Mix, and you will create a perfect work"). This is also how niche perfumes are born.
